Foster Care Program

Greetings! Would you like to give a needy animal a second chance at life? If so, you should consider joining our Foster Care Program. Our program commenced in March 2006 and has given over 200 animals a second chance at life! Please consider joining this dedicated team. This is a wonderful option for those of you who are unable to volunteer at the shelter or at off-site events because of time constraints. Fostering affords you the luxury of providing care to our animals in the comfort of your home. If you wish to learn more about this program or would like to request an application, please contact Sheila Gregory, Special Programs Coordinator, by calling (803) 928-2778 or via email

Program Description

Short-Term Foster Care Program

  • You Provide temporary housing for orphaned, sick or special needs animals in the comfort of your home
  • You provide food, water, litter (if needed), shelter and lots of love S.P.C.A. pays for routine medical costs and spay/neuter surgery
  • You will need to be available 24/7, if you choose to foster newborn animals because bottle feeding is required
