SPCA supporting expanded effort to spay and neuter pets.

Orangeburg County pet owners can take advantage of an expanded local effort to spay and neuter pets.

The Orangeburg SPCA will provide transportation to and from the Columbia Humane Society Spay and Neuter Clinic on Monday for preregistered pets. Check-in is at PetSense near the Prince of Orange Mall.

Interested individuals must call 803-536-3918 to participate.

The Columbia Humane Society agreement is another part of the expanded SPCA spay and neuter program designed to combat animal overpopulation in Orangeburg County.

Pet owners can obtain vouchers that are redeemable for spay and neutering services. The program is available for Orangeburg County residents.

Two types of vouchers are available. The first is a $50 voucher for low-income individuals who qualify. A $15 voucher, good for $50 spay and neutering services, has no income restrictions. The vouchers can be used for a veterinarian of choice or at the Columbia Humane Society Spay and Neuter Clinic.

The low-income application for vouchers can be obtained by calling the SPCA or by clicking on the link below. Once completed, they must be mailed in to be valid.

“We want to have as many people as we can reach, with a voucher limit of two per household,” Tumbleston said. “In the near future, there may also be additional discounts from the Humane Society that could be passed on to pet owners.”
